I translated Dove’s core message, calm, ambient AI that reduces email stress, into a clean, modern, and emotionally soothing visual experience. My focus was on creating a sense of clarity and breathing room to reflect how Dove quietly supports users without feeling loud, technical, or overwhelming.

Approach

I refined the provided outline into a layout that feels open and intuitive, using soft gradients, generous spacing, and a warm, intelligent aesthetic. The typography and layout emphasize simplicity and trust, helping the user immediately understand Dove’s value: an inbox that feels personal, supportive, and effortless.

Visual & Motion Design

To reinforce the brand’s calm, airy tone, I incorporated subtle FadeIn transitions and gentle micro-animations, which I showcased in the accompanying video. These movements make each section flow naturally and create a soothing, ambient atmosphere that mirrors how Dove’s AI works beneath the surface.

Outcome

The final design presents Dove as a thoughtful, human-centered email experience: clean, intelligent, and grounded in emotional ease. The visuals and motion together communicate a calmer inbox that truly “thinks like you.”

Unifying Search

Design Challenge

The Dove email application had evolved to include three separate ways to search, each optimized for a different task:

Keyword Search for finding emails using specific terms.
AI Search for asking natural-language questions and exploring inbox data conversationally.
Command Search (Command-K) for navigating the application and accessing settings.

While each feature was valuable individually, they existed in different locations and required users to understand which search tool to use before they could begin. This fragmented experience increased cognitive load, slowed task completion, and made advanced capabilities like AI search less discoverable.

The design challenge was to create a single, persistent search experience that unified these three behaviors without sacrificing the unique strengths of each.

My Approach

I explored how a single search bar could become the primary entry point for every search-related task. I designed a persistent search field anchored at the top of the interface that supports three distinct interactions within one consistent experience:

Email Search provides familiar keyword search with recent searches, filters such as Last 7 Days and Has Attachment, folder selection, and traditional search results.
Ask AI is surfaced directly from the search bar through an AI affordance, allowing users to ask natural-language questions, receive summarized answers, and continue with follow-up questions in the same conversational flow.
Navigation Search enables users to search commands, settings, and destinations within the application from the same entry point rather than relying on a separate Command-K workflow.

Rather than forcing users to choose between multiple search tools, the interface presents a single starting point while making each capability easy to discover and access.

Outcome

The resulting concept simplified the search experience by consolidating three separate entry points into one persistent interface. Users could begin every search from the same location, whether they wanted to find an email, ask an AI-powered question, or navigate the application, reducing decision-making while maintaining the specialized functionality of each search method. The solution also increased the visibility of AI capabilities by integrating them directly into a familiar workflow instead of isolating them in a separate panel.
